Job Summary

The Junior Cloud Engineer is responsible for supporting cloud migration, deployment, and operational activities on AWS under the guidance of Senior Cloud Engineers and Solutions Architects. This is a hands-on role designed to provide practical experience in deploying and managing AWS infrastructure, supporting workload migrations from on-premises and other cloud environments, and maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing cloud environments. 

The role requires a foundation in AWS infrastructure, networking, cloud services, and troubleshooting, combined with a strong willingness to learn and develop technical expertise. As an Advanced AWS Partner with Migration & Modernization competency, CirrusGo expects Junior Cloud Engineers to follow AWS best practices, security standards, and operational procedures while continuously developing their technical skills and pursuing relevant AWS certifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support cloud migration projects, including discovery, planning, server replication, database migration, application cutover, and post-migration validation under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist with lift-and-shift, re-platform, and re-host migrations using AWS Migration Hub, AWS MGN (Application Migration Service), AWS DMS, and AWS SMS.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS infrastructure services, including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, ELB, Route 53, CloudFront, IAM, and CloudWatch, with guidance from senior engineers.

  • Assist with Infrastructure as Code activities using CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK. 

  • Monitor AWS environments and assist with monitoring, alerting, and logging using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, and third-party tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, and Grafana. 

  • Perform routine operational tasks, including patching, backup management, system maintenance, and basic disaster recovery activities.

  • Assist with cloud cost optimization activities, including identifying unused resources, resource right sizing, and basic Savings Plans or Reserved Instances analysis.

  • Document migration activities, technical configurations, troubleshooting steps, runbooks, and operational procedures. 

  • Collaborate with Solutions Architects and Senior Cloud Engineers during technical handover, implementation, and support phases. 

  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, technical training, and continuous learning activities. 

  • Actively pursue AWS certifications and contribute to CirrusGo’s certification and competency development goals. 

  • Adhere to CirrusGo standards, security guidelines, ethical conduct, and professional behavior at all times.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, systems administration, or a related technical field, with an interest in AWS.

  • Basic understanding of AWS cloud services and infrastructure concepts. 

  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including VLAN, subnetting, routing, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing. 

  • Basic understanding of cloud migration concepts and methodologies.

  • Basic knowledge or hands-on exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS CDK is a plus. 

  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Zabbix. 

  • Basic understanding of cloud security, and compliance. 

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Good communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly. 

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop AWS and cloud engineering skills. 

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is preferred. 

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer - Associate certification is a plus, but not mandatory for entry-level candidates. 

  • Linux and/or Windows server administration experience is a plus.
